It’s been a long year or so, hasn’t it? Back in March of 2020, we were hoping COVID would long lost memory by now. While bits and pieces of the world are getting back to normal(ish), one thing that still hasn’t changed much is equipment availability. We mentioned shortages in March and in November of 2020, especially among equipment needed for work from home (laptops and web cams were the biggest trouble spots). While laptops are still tricky to come by, the biggest issue now is just microchips in general: everything has them, nobody can get them (Cisco says things won’t be back to normal until later this year). Supply chain issues are adding delays to a variety of hardware from laptops, network switches, processors, graphics cards and more. Basically, things are a bit of a mess right now. If you’re wanting to swap out some hardware in a few months, we recommend ordering now so you will actually have the hardware in-hand when the time comes.
