Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Bend and Anchorage offer home ownership opportunities for families based on need, willingness to partner and ability to pay. Habitat serves families whose income is 35 to 60 percent of the area’s median income. Prospective Habitat homeowner families are required to contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” (volunteer time) on the construction site, at the ReStore and in financial education classes before they purchase their home. Habitat houses are built using donations and discounts for land, materials, services, volunteer labor and monetary gifts which allows Habitat to keep the mortgage payments affordable for these low income families.
