It is Hurricane Season (officially) and COVID season is still with us, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. And with every natural disaster, pandemic, or other major traumatic experience, there is always some jerk that wants to take advantage of the situation. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) wants to make sure you watch out for COVID-19 cyber scams (including scams related to the economic payments). CISA also has a warning to remain on alert for malicious cyber activity targeting potential disaster victims.
CISA links to several resources to review to make sure you’re keeping yourself safe:
- Staying Alert to Disaster-related Scams
- Before Giving to a Charity
- Staying Safe on Social Networking Sites
- Avoiding Social Engineering and Phishing Attacks
- Using Caution with Email Attachments
Weston’s CompleteCare helps prevent a lot of this kind of stuff from making it through in the first place, but you should always be vigilant whenever possible. Be sure to follow our advice on phishing to make sure you don’t click on something you shouldn’t.
