We’re only as good as our team. Our teamwork is one of our company’s Core Values (ask any of us and we’ll tell you the rest of them). Every month we’d like to introduce you to another member of our awesome team. So far you’ve met a bunch of great folks — everybody except one person. This month, in a “last-but-not-least” fashion, we’d like to introduce Weston’s founder and CEO, Brock McFarlane.
- Name, and title and (to quote Office Space) “What would you say you do here?” Brock McFarlane, CEO and Lead Janitor – My job is to better the lives of our clients, our team and our community (and vacuum)
- Hometown and how did you end up where you are? Corvallis, Oregon (Go Beavs!). Married my high school sweetheart. Graduated from OSU in Business/Computer Science. Worked for CH2M HILL for a couple of years and then set off on an adventure to Alaska. When we had kids we wanted to be closer to our parents so we moved to Bend.
- How did you end up at Weston? They were having a raffle for a position at an IT company. I thought it was to win a computer. I put in my business card and here I am.
- Favorite part about Weston? Being able to help someone with something that has been frustrating them or hindering them from getting done what they want to.
- What do you do for fun in your spare time? Explore. We love to travel and have been blessed to be able to see much of this great country together as a family. Only one more state to go before our kids have been in every one of the 50 states.
- What do in your spare time that nobody would guess? Learning to ride a dual sport motorcycle.
- If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? Being around to see my kids become parents (and telling their kids what things to do to drive their parents crazy).
- What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Anytime I have to crawl through the attic insulation.
- If you had to pick one word to describe yourself, what would it be? Thankful.
- If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Jesus.
- Choose a movie title for the story of your life. Chicken Run.
- If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why? According to an Internet quiz I took, Bradley Cooper. No idea why.
- What do you want to be when you grow up? Wise and patient.
- If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? Superspeed so I could get more done.
- What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done in your life? Hate to say it, but I cannot think of any crazy things I have done. I guess that is a benefit of getting older.
- If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be? Indiana Jones, so I could experience his type of adventure.
- If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be an why? My dog as she has it good and I am pretty envious.
- What is the worst pet you have ever had? My dog.
- How do you get your caffeine? Coffee — shaken not stirred
- What’s the strangest talent you have? Apparently smashing spiders as everyone in the house keeps asking me to do it.
- If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? My Bible, my wife and a floatplane with a full tank of gas.
- Where’s Waldo? At the optometrist — the one next to the red and white shirt shop.
- A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here? “Perdone, ¿dónde está el baño?” – I think it is pretty obvious why he is here.
- If I opened your fridge, what would I see? Based on our bills, most of what Costco carries.
- Here’s $20. What are you going to do with it? Coffee!
