We’re only as good as our team. Our teamwork is one of our company’s Core Values (ask any of us and we’ll tell you the rest of them). Every month we’d like to introduce you to another member of our awesome team. So far you’ve met a bunch of great folks. This month, we’re introducing you to a member of our management team, Weston’s first technician and now service manager, meet Eric Spinney.
- Name, and title and “What would you say you do here?” Eric Spinney, Service Manager. My job as I see it is to make sure that all of our techs have what they need to make sure our clients are well taken care of.
- Hometown and how did you end up where you are? Duxbury, Massachusetts. I ended up in Bend via Vail, Colorado, where I was a snowboard bum for a while. Bend has a the Outdoor lifestyle I enjoyed in Vail, but you can actually afford to live.
- How did you end up at Weston? I was working as an IT guy and network instructor at a computer learning center during a brief stay back East when I was hired. Bend was the place we were going to move, my wife and I just had to find the right job. I was the first tech hired in Bend, for a while it was just Brock and I basically doing whatever needed to be done, be it taking out the trash or building a server.
- Favorite part about Weston? I like that we are still a small company and everyone’s input matters.
- What do you do for fun in your spare time? Snowboarding, mountain biking, running, hiking, kayaking, and just general family time with my wife and two boys.
- What do in your spare time that nobody would guess? Hmm, gardening, I love growing food that I know is grown in a healthy way that my whole family can enjoy.
- If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? I would like to be there when the human race figures out how to stop killing each other and the planet.
- What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Cleaning the cat litter box, that is by far the worst.
- If you had to pick one word to describe yourself, what would it be? Curious.
- If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Stevie Wonder. OK, I am a fan boy but the guy is phenomenal and has inspired so many people.
- Choose a movie title for the story of your life. Let’s go!
- If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why? Brad Pitt, isn’t it obvious? (Editor’s Note: No)
- What do you want to be when you grow up? Pro Snowboarder in the winter, mountain biker in the summer, and a writer in my spare time.
- If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? I would love to be able to teleport anywhere I wanted.
- What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done in your life? Hmm, probably chasing a bear around the back country in Yosemite with a camera trying to get a picture of it. In hindsight, probably not the smartest move.
- If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be? Neil Armstrong, that would be pretty cool.
- If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be an why? My dog, all he thinks about is food, exercise and sleep. Life would be so simple.
- What is the worst pet you have ever had? I don’t think I have every had a bad one.
- How do you get your caffeine? Coffee. Cream and sugar please.
- What’s the strangest talent you have? Not sure I have any strange ones that I can think of, I am sure my wife would have quite a few, although I am not sure she’s call them “talents.” I remember random numbers that I don’t need to know, like the phone number of the house I grew up in and moved out of when I was 8.
- If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? Matches, water filter, seeds to grow vegetables (maybe Kale or Soy, pretty well-rounded food).
- Where’s Waldo? Probably in witness protection looking over his shoulder.
- A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here? Who’s got tequila, I know where there is plenty of ice! Dude can you guys stop trashing my habitat!
- If I opened your fridge, what would I see? Hopefully some leftovers, they make the best lunch.
- Here’s $20. What are you going to do with it? Buy some beer since all that was in my fridge was leftovers.
