Meet a Team Member: Joshua Simone

Josh Simone

We’re only as good as our team. Our teamwork is one of our company’s Core Values (ask any of us and we’ll tell you the rest of them). Every month we like to introduce you to another member of our awesome team. So far you’ve met a bunch of great folks. This month, we introduce Weston’s newest team member, Joshua Simone.

Name, and title: Joshua Simone, Helpdesk Associate.

Hometown and how did you end up where you are? I grew up in Sisters, Oregon. Met my wife in Bend. Moved around the state for five years, had two kids, then came back to Central Oregon to be near family.

How did you end up at Weston? I am enrolled in OIT online Management Information Systems program. I needed to get some practical hands on experience and Weston gave me a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow.

Favorite part about Weston? The business ethics and values here are very desirable. I always want to work for a company I can be proud of being employed at. Weston is a company I am proud to be a member of. The team here is delightful.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? Teaching my children and spending time with my family. I enjoy playing and collecting Hobby Board games. I have about 140 of them spilling out of my closet right now.

What do in your spare time that nobody would guess? I journal quite a lot. I enjoy writing quite a bit. I am always writing ideas to maybe one day write a book myself.

If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? It would be interesting to see what North America looked like before European settlers arrived. To see the natural wonders, the native American societies, and animal life.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Mopping the floor.

If you had to pick one word to describe yourself, what would it be? Transparent

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Harriet Tubman. It would be a humbling experience.

Choose a movie title for the story of your life. An Unplanned Adventure

If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why? Steve Carrell, He can do serious, he can do comedy. Both are necessary.

What do you want to be when you grow up? That guy sitting in a rocking chair on a porch, drinking good tea, playing a board game, and yelling at all the young whippersnappers.

If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? Telekinesis. Your only limit would be your imagination.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done in your life? Hard to say, it’s a matter of perspective. I generally stay away from crazy, but I have been skydiving, rock climbed in Thailand, rappelled about 600 ft., intentionally have been lost in the wilderness for a week. They are not too crazy to me, but for some that may qualify.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be? Diogenes of Sinope, but I would be worried about how things would be in my life after that week was over…

If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why? Red-Tailed Hawk. It is an animal my wife’s late father loved, and every time we are on the road, we see flying around us.

What is the worst pet you have ever had? Fish. So depressing.

How do you get your caffeine? High quality tea, or Matè.

What’s the strangest talent you have? I can touch my nose with my tongue… while juggling… and standing on one foot… I don’t think I have any strange talents…

If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? Knife, Rope, First Aid kit.

Where’s Waldo? He is always in in the last place you look.

A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here? He starts honking and chasing my children. Then they start chasing the penguin. This is an elaborate prank placed upon me by my friends.

If I opened your fridge, what would I see? Leftovers, cheese, milk, orange juice, and butter.

Here’s $20. What are you going to do with it? I would like to say something clever, but in all honestly I would probably go buy a board game or a book.
