It’s already a good idea to save to OneDrive or SharePoint so you can have an offsite backup in case your computer blows up, but now there is even more of a reason to use the services: Buried in a Microsoft roadmap release is a feature that might save your bacon if things go sideways. Just released is a new feature: AutoSave for SharePoint and One Drive. AutoSave is a new feature available in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for Office 365 subscribers. It saves your file for you so that you don’t have to. From Microsoft’s site:

“Save early, save often” is now a thing of the past. Now there’s AutoSave which saves every few seconds so that you don’t have to. AutoSave is enabled when a file is stored on OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint Online. It automatically saves your changes to the cloud as you are working. And, if other people are working on the same file, AutoSave lets them see your changes in a matter of seconds.

Read on for more details, and how it affects the “Save As” command.
