This is one of the unconventional but one of the most useful tips and tricks for OneNote I’ve seen. The OCR in OneNote (the program’s ability to read text from scanned/stored images) is pretty good. As such, you can use it to build an electronic index of all your physical books. The process is pretty simple:
- Step 1: Install any document scanning app on your phone (we use Office Lens)
- Step 2: Scan all the index pages and table of contents in your books
- Step 3: Send it to whatever software you’re using that has OCR feature (OneNote works great for this)
- Step 4: Now you can search your books digitally
